Editing is complete!

Its been a long and hard process but finally the editing is complete and it has been all worth it as the final version of the music video I personally think looks great. When you look our video you can see that we have used editing techniques creatively and used various editing methods. Some of the editing tools I did not even realise existed until I experimented with them and I think personally I have developed my own editing skills which I am very proud of.  However editing did have its complication at times such as at one stage we realised that we did not have important shot which was in our storyboard but we did not get the shot done due to the rain on the day of the shoot. So we had to shoot that small scene so that it fit in with our storyboard. We also shot a extra scene where we see the girl send the break-up text and I felt this was important to include in the video as I believed some audiences may be confused about who sent the break up text so that scene fills the gap that was there. I think the end result actually looks better than we predicted if you just look at the completed storyboard. The new ideas that we implemented improve the video as a whole. The process has been time consuming as editing always requires a lot of time and commitment but I think in regards of time management we did superbly! we finished before the editing deadlines and this meant that we could review our video and make any small changes that we though would be necessary. Now that editing is done I'm very pleased with my progression and how everything has worked out.

Half way point of editing

Not long before all the editing is complete but there have been a few bumps in the road and I am learning day by day as I continue to edit the video so I am really pleased about that. There is more footage then we expected there to be but that is a positive thing as we can experiment and change things around if we think something doesn't works well. We haven't followed the storyboard exactly how we planned to because as you go along the process new ideas come up such as, I had the idea to use a time lapse in the video to represent that time is going back and this is the transition to show the audience the events of the past time so that they know that the next scene they will see was how things used to be when the couple were together. This was sandwiched together with a scene of the male lead lip synching and the clock is faded in the background as the artist sings. Also all the scenes that were in black and white represent the past and all the scenes with colour is the present tense. Furthermore, we used the hand held shots in the video which looks like footage from a home video which weren't initially in our plans but work brilliantly in the film as it gives our video a sense of originality sets our video apart from other pop videos out there.

Starting Editing!

Today we started the process of editing our video. We uploaded our footage onto the apple mac and we looked through all our clips that we had recorded noting which clips we would defaintly use, the ones that we could potentially use and the clips that we would leave out noting all of them down on paper. We then uploaded the track onto the mac and we started putting together the beginning of our video. I find editing quite challenging but also enjoyable the reason why I find it challenging is that I am not so good with the software however by practising day by day using final cut pro I am beginning to come to terms on how to use to it and slowly becoming better. We have many ideas about what to include in the video hopefully everything goes smoothly.
