Development of Album front cover and back

Front Cover

Before we started working on the front cover we as group knew what kind of picture we wanted to use an median shot of the main artist with one of his leg bent against a brick wall.  From our presentation of album ideas you could see how we wanted to compose the picture and followed it exactly how we presented in the mock up. The artists body languaged is relaxed and cool and he is not showing any direct eye contact something I told the artist not to do as this shows that artist has something on his mind which is the break up with his girlfreind. Also the reason I wanted the brick wall as the background as it links to the scenes in the music video where the artist is sitting against a brick wall. The brick wall connotes strength as the cement inbetween the bricks hold it together and this what the main artist needs in the video, to be strong and hold himself together. That is why in the video he leans back against the brick wall for support but here on the front cover of the album he only has one leg up against the wall to show that now he can hold himself together.
When we intially took the picture we made sure that the artist was more on the right hand side as then it left space on the left hand side of the photo for the album name. We made the text black cause it is eye catching and bold and also it was one of our house style fonts. Also the artist is mainly wearing black clothing with a dark green scarf so the picture and the text are consistent. Also after discussion with the group Stephanie and Yasmeen decided that we should make the image more of a median shot by cropping the bottom part of the photo so that his legs aren't on show.

Here you can see we adjusted the text and took the album name down to the bottom as we felt that there was some space in the bottem that could be filled and that it looked better seperated. We changed the text font from calibri to Trajan Pro. Also the album name was made italic so that the text had a flow to it also the artist looks like his looking to the left toward his own name.
Back Cover

Here is the first idea we had for our album the background of the back of the album is a brick wall and this was done to keep consistency with the front of the album. The background was lightened so that the black text would stand out against the backdrop. We then added a track list of various songs of the artist like any other album. Also other usual conventions added were a barcode the music company logo to which the artist is signed to and the artists webpage. We also added a copyright statement at the bottom right hand corner addressing the huge problem in the music indrustry in this day of age which is illegal filesharing.

However we did experiment with the backdrop and made it white to see how it looked but realised that it was a huge contrast from the front cover so would not work. Also it was to simple for album.
In the end this was our final product of the back cover. We believed it looked original was consistent was also following our colour scheme of black and white and followed all the conventions of a what an album package would look like.
